Product Tour: Weather
How Will the Weather Affect Your Flight?
You can't predict the weather and it can adversely affect your flight and flight safety. World Flight Planner makes it easy to account for the weather for fewer surprises and a safer flight.
World Flight Planner automatically adjusts your navigation logs for the forecast wind, calculating the compass heading to track and estimated groundspeed. Links for all the appropriate weather forecasts and imagery are conveniently grouped for easy access.
Radar Imagery
If weather radar imagery is supported for your country, you'll also be able to overlay the weather radar data on your map so you can see what to expect en route and at your destination.
Canadian weather radar imagery is also animated and displays the last hour of radar returns to further enhance your mental picture of the weather.
Visualization
Active AIRMET and SIGMET are often hard to determine shape and size, especially if you aren't familiar with the location references given, without plotting them on a map but World Flight Planner makes it easy. The AIRMET and SIGMET overlay options on the route map displays all the areas covered by active AIRMET/SIGMET, allowing you to easily visualize each without the need do any plotting. Detailed information on any AIRMET or SIGMET can be viewed simply by clicking on any of the affected areas.
PIREPs are also displayed on the map, allowing you to easily see the location of pilot reports in the vicinity of your route. As with SIGMET, detailed information on plotted PIREPs can be displayed by clicking on the PIREP icon on the map.
The flight rules map overlay displays the airport status (VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR) based on the latest available METAR. This overlay allows you to not only see a rough overall picture of the weather but also identify any localized variation at any airports along your track.
